The Installation of Bp. Glenn Corsiga as Bishop of the Diocese of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay

Right after the episcopal ordination and installation of the Most Rev. Anthony Timoner in Pagadian City on August 13, 2025, we made our way to Ipil in Zamboanga Sibugay, where another milestone awaited—the installation of the new bishop of the Diocese of Ipil, the Most Rev. Glenn Corsiga. Bishop Corsiga had been ordained in his home diocese of Dumaguete just a few weeks earlier, on July 29, 2025.

The three-hour journey from Pagadian to Ipil offered a quiet pause between two moments of grace. As the bus rolled past the green hills and coastal stretches of Mindanao, we found ourselves reflecting on how the Church continues to grow and renew itself through the ministry of its shepherds. Each ordination and installation was not just an event, but a reminder of the Spirit’s gentle movement—calling, sending, and sustaining those who serve.

Traveling from one diocese to another, from celebration to celebration, we were reminded that the life of the Church is truly a pilgrimage—a journey woven together by faith, service, and communion. Each bishop’s “yes” becomes part of the Church’s larger story, carrying forward the mission of Christ in new places and among new people.

The Episcopal Ordination and Installation of Bp. Timoner in Pagadian, Zamboanga del Sur

On August 13, 2025, the Diocese of Pagadian joyfully celebrated the episcopal ordination and installation of its new bishop, the Most Rev. Ronald Anthony Timoner, formerly of the Diocese of Daet. The occasion was made even more special as it coincided with his 54th birthday. The night before, during the welcome dinner, the clergy of the diocese surprised him with songs and a birthday cake—a heartfelt gesture that set a tone of warmth and fraternity on the eve of his ordination.

The night before the episcopal ordination and installation of Bp. Ronald Anthony Timoner, a welcome dinner was held not only for the new bishop but for all the visitors who came from near and far. Here the priests of the Diocese of Pagadian after rendering a song presented to their new bishop a birthday cake.

The program was complete with a folkloric dance presentation.

The Episcopal Ordination of Bishop-elect Glenn Corsiga in Dumaguete

Last July 29, 2025, I had the privilege of visiting Dumaguete, Negros Oriental to attend the episcopal ordination of the Most Rev. Glenn Corsiga, the bishop-elect of the Diocese of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. It had been several years since my last visit to Dumaguete, and I noticed that some embellishments had been added to the altar of the cathedral.

I also had the chance to revisit the churches of Bacong and Dauin during a side trip for snorkeling in Dauin. The place brought back memories of my diving course years ago, when one of our practice dives was held there. This time, our driver took us to a resort near the town, where the waters were quite deep. From above, I could see divers exploring below, though the coral growth was rather sparse.

Later, when I met the parish priest of Dauin, he mentioned that the best spot for snorkeling was actually the beach right in front of the parish church itself—something I made a mental note of for the next visit.
