The province
of Pangasinan covers such a wide territory that ecclesiastically it is divided
into three jurisdictions: the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan and the Dioceses
of Urdaneta and Alaminos. Lingayen- Dagupan
was created a diocese in May 19, 1928. It was elevated to an Archdiocese in
February 16, 1963 with five suffragan dioceses: Alaminos, Cabanatuan, San
Fernando (La Union), San Jose (Nueva Ecija) and Urdaneta. The diocese of Alaminos was created and
erected in January 12, 1985 comprising 14 municipalities of the western part of
the province of Pangasinan. The Diocese of Urdaneta, comprising 17
municipalities in the eastern part of
the province of Pangasinan, was likewise created and erected on the same date as
Alaminos.
This post
will feature the Cathedral churches of Urdaneta and Lingayen-Dagupan. Also
